What a fascinating topic. Allison and I were talking about this yesterday, and this morning … I was directed by my devotional to “re-read John chapters 8-10”… the instructions were to observe “what problems the Jews had with Jesus, and how he responded”. And here is what appeared:
““Teacher,” they said to Jesus, “this woman was caught in the act of adultery. The law of Moses says to stone her. What do you say?””
John 8:4-5 NLT
They were attempting to trap him into saying something that would allow them to arrest him… in this example, one could say he is showing us how to interpret Old Testament law in Jesus new world. It requires a deeper understanding than just following “the law”
